Partner and the Global Leader of Compliance Risk Management within PricewaterhouseCoopers. Dr. Ponemon is the founder of the first business ethics and corporate compliance assurance practice within the international professional service marketplace. The practice consults with numerous (Fortune 500) clients on governance, corporate compliance, anti-corruption programs, crisis arbitration, litigation support, ethics and ethical awareness training and compliance risk management program implementation.

Dr. Ponemon serves as an "expert" on cases involving ethical conduct and compliance program effectiveness. Recent work in this area include: determination of "reasonable compliance" with corporate policies; professional "holdout" in a regulated industry versus First Amendment Rights; fiduciary responsibilities of employees and agents in the insurance industry; employer rights over personal information and individual employee privacy.

Dr. Ponemon’s consulting experience in business ethics covers a wide array of industries including utilities, financial services (banking, insurance companies and brokerage), telecommunication companies, healthcare, retail, government contractors, distributors and manufacturers, technology companies, professional service firms, not-for-profits and government agencies.

Dr. Ponemon developed e-business compliance programs and self- regulatory frameworks on privacy and ethical information management for companies in the reference services, new media, financial services and telecom industries, respectively.

Dr. Ponemon conducted worldwide ethics and compliance assessments, ethics and social accountability audits and related special investigations for both U.S. and non-U.S. based organizations facing criminal sanctions under Chapter 8 of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

Dr. Ponemon serves the firm as an Independent Assessor of Insurance Marketing Standards Association (IMSA) certification for companies in the life insurance industry.

Dr. Ponemon has developed vendor-monitoring procedures for organizations in various industries. The focus of this work is to identify risks and vulnerabilities with respect to harmful work conditions and other human rights violations (within the United States and abroad) in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor, United Nations and ILO guidelines and standards.

Dr. Ponemon has an extensive history in working with senior executives and Boards of public companies in the design and implementation of corporate governance programs as the starting point for the company’s overall process of ethics, business conduct and compliance.

Dr. Ponemon has developed and implemented ethics and ethical awareness training programs for organizations on a worldwide basis, including the design of interactive technology, desktop learning applications and train-the-trainer programs.

Dr. Ponemon created ethics and control self-assessment programs for measuring, monitoring and motivating best ethical performance as part of the company’s internal control structure and Board level reporting mechanism.

Dr. Ponemon worked with forensic and auditing professionals on the analysis of international corruption and bribery issues and alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for U.S. companies (and foreign subsidiaries) doing business in Latin America, Asia and Europe.

Dr. Ponemon conducted "glass ceiling" audits and internal investigations on employment practice policy violations, such as sexual harassment, hostile work environment and racial discrimination.

Dr. Ponemon has worked with corporate counsel and ethics officers in the implementation of worldwide ethics programs, including the design of corporate codes of conduct, downstream communications, ethics training and helpline/hotline management.
