I was pleased to read in the NYT that you are in the process of putting together an advisory committee to help the Federal Trade Commission decide how to protect privacy and security online. I believe the move to create the advisory committee to evaluate industry efforts and help define security standards for giving consumers access to the information that has been gathered about them, the FTC will be making a significant contribution to one of the most critical issues we will be facing in the years to come. I would like to apply to become part of the committee. I am principal in my own consulting company, originally founded in 1997. CBM Consulting (www.cbmconsult.com) conducts proprietary consulting and market research nationally and internationally and delivers workshops and seminars based on client needs. Dr. Behar Molad has conducted numerous consulting and market research projects on such topics as electronic commerce, supply chain management, strategic planning and Internet use. The scope of these projects has spanned areas from management overviews of significant factors in technology or application areas to strategic positioning, competitive analysis, market analysis, and futuring.

I am also a published author (see review on the Web at:  women.weavingwebs.com) and appeared on many radio shows as guest expert on various Internet subjects. I have worked internationally as speaker and seminar leader on all topics pertaining to Internet and e-commerce. My clients have included leading and new entrant companies in the technology areas of e-commerce, manufacturing, distribution and retail as well as government agencies in many parts of the world.

I am the recipient of the 1999 Top 20 Houston Women in Technology award and the founder and chairperson of the Houston Mayor*s Women in Technology 2000 Event. I have recently initiated the creation of the Houston Executive Women in Technology Forum. As an activist in the area of women and technology, I have conducted many community efforts to educate women about issues of online privacy and data collection. I am currently working on a new guide book for parents discussing those issues as they pertain to children's use of the Internet.

I hold a doctoral degree in global business management from the Union Institute and an MA in communications from the University of North Texas and have guest lectured at universities around the world.

I will be honored to be considered as member of your advisory committee.

Thank you for your kind consideration,

Dr. Clarisse Behar Molad
